After a short break, we’re back with a new installment in our Yes Chef! Series and are excited to feature our first female chef! Chef Freda Gore is the owner and tour host of Caribbean Culinary Tours, which specializes in culinary vacations and retreats to Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Puerto Rico. Chef Gore has over 25 years in the culinary field, holding various positions including that of Chef Instructor at The Hotel Training Center, Dutchman’s Bay Antigua.

The Atlantis Resort, on Paradise Island in The Bahamas, is world renowned for its family friendly environment, offering activities for kids of all ages to enjoy, from the current Cartoon Network ‘Summer @ Atlantis’ water feature to Club CRUSH, a teenagers-only nightclub. My summer crew of kids and I had the pleasure of experiencing a tour of the entire water habitat at the resort, and it did not disappoint.
Happy 52nd anniversary of Independence, Jamaica! Although we were unable to make it to the festivities in Jamaica, we did the next best thing and celebrated with Jamaicans living in The Bahamas! (FYI: Jamaicans are everywhere!! 🙂 )
I was initially apprehensive about agreeing to travel to Wemyss Bight, Eleuthera with my family and had many good reasons. First, the house we’d be staying in has no cable television or internet service. Second, there are no shopping malls, movie theatres or fast food restaurants. (Where is this? Medieval England?!).
In the early morning hours, right after a rain shower, just as the sun was rising, we set out on the back of a truck, to a dirt road through never-ending bushes. Our goal: to come back with a bucket full of crabs for Sunday dinner.
